Financial Industry Marketing: Design the Customer Journey

The financial services sector is teeming with competition. As resources become more stretched, upcoming generations are increasingly aware of how important it is take rein of finances early on in their life. For any organization, marketing and branding is highly important to attracting and retaining customers. But financial industry marketing should also share key elements of the customer journey as well.

Why should someone trust your company with their money? What kind of returns can they expect, and more importantly, what kind of insight can they expect into the process? What are the important touch points? All of these factors contribute to the customer journey.

Boxes & Financial Industry Marketing

O8 Agency found that financial services companies that invest in their customer journey typically see big returns. To be exact, it's been shown to "...increase marketing-driven revenue by 24.9% YoY, reduce service costs by 21.2%, and reduce the average sales cycle by 16.8%."

One way to invest in this aspect of financial industry marketing is to through brand channels, including packaging options. The example to the side, with rose gold foil against a white background, implements  popular trends. It's chic packaging that speaks to younger audiences, and tells a story all on its own.

Customers will be drawn to the photogenic aspects of the packaging, and it can be used to house various materials assisting in the customer journey.

Customer Journey Packaging

The customer journey is conceptual versus physical. But at Sunrise Packaging, we can help with the physical packaging aspect of your financial industry marketing. Not every product has to make use of current trends (and, if we're honest, we recommend a more classic look). But that's something we can coach you on through the design process.

FlashPad Wallet: Pocket Marketing

Inspiration can come from random places. In the immortal words of Missy Elliott, sometimes you gotta put your thing down, flip it and reverse it. We didn't go quite to those lengths for our FlashPad Wallet, but this emblem of the pocket marketing movement has other elements of innovation.

Every Friday, we highlight a FlashPad project from the past on our social channels. Our FlashPad Wallets recently popped up, and we felt they deserve a bit more of the spotlight. These small-but-mighty packages can hold all the value of their big brother FlashPads. But with a leaner look and more condensed copy, they feel a little lighter.

Pocket Marketing Goes the Distance

Per the name, we envision pocket marketing as something that's as seamless as putting in your pocket. Literally and figuratively.

Our FlashPad Wallet is the inspiration for this concept. Aptly named, it fits in a pocket like a wallet in addition to functioning like one. The hard, sturdy case feels almost book-like, and the custom-formed internal cavity can hold a variety of items. In the past, we've used the FlashPad Wallet to hold gift cards, keys and key fobs, collector coins, challenge coins, coin markers, poker chips, and more.  As you can probably guess, this kind of packaging is versatile enough to work for just about any industry and for any purpose, from university new student orientations to celebrating a 20 year work anniversary.

Giveaway Packaging Ideas

Running a giveaway within your organization is a great way to increase engagement. No matter what your goal is, generating excitement and energy for your brand should be good for the company overall. Just don't leave the giveaway packaging to the last moment.

We often talk about the importance of packaging on this site--unsurprisingly--but the truth is, packaging matters. Especially when you want to make a good impression. At Sunrise, we know a lot about promotional packaging. And whether the ultimate goal is to gain new leads, reward current clients, increase employee productivity... Well, the gift packaging is key to truly making the promo feel like a reward.

Giveaway Packaging vs. Throwaway Packaging

Sometimes, it's easiest to put yourself in the shoes of someone else. Let's say you win tickets to an exclusive event. Or an incentive trip. And when you go to collect your prize, how would you like to see it presented?

There's the throwaway packaging. An envelope, or plain brown box, something with zero sentiment or doesn't induce a single emotion.

And on the other hand, we have a well-crafted box. Like the example to the side, which was created for Hellas Construction.  This box was used for a ticket giveaway. We're a big fan of it as a great example of not just promotional packaging, but as a giveaway box as well.

Emblazoned with the logo and branded with the colors and aesthetic of the company, there is no question regarding who is the giver of this product. It's designed with the purpose of not only to convey a prize to the winning party, but for the giver to stick in the mind of the recipient as well. Magnetic boxes with soft touch lamination send a message. The kind of message that says, We don't skimp corners in any area of our business.

Which one would make you more excited: a plain brown box or this mag box?

The Choice is Clear

Creating engagement should be embedded in the crafting of your giveaway campaign. From the messaging to the platform to the giveaway itself, everything should be in place to maximize relevancy to your audience and generate excitement.  Your promotions should include the giveaway packaging. And that, in and of itself, should be treated as your most potent marketing tool throughout the strategy execution.

When you're ready to leverage your next promo, talk to us about how to make the most out of your giveaway packaging. Our team is ready and rearing to go!
