Custom Gift Boxes for All Occasions

While the holidays draw near, anyone tasked with gifting turns their mind toward packaging at some point. While wrapping paper still reigns supreme, there's another option available. A more eco-friendly option, we might add. Gift boxes, especially unique boxes, can be all the decoration a gift needs this holiday season.

Custom gift boxes aren't a new idea, but they've long been the domain of luxury packaging. Think of Tiffany's jewelry, for example. Sparkly diamonds might come to mind, but so does their iconic robin-egg blue box and white ribbon.  In that example, their brand is clear. So much so that a Pinterest marketing effort proclaims, "There is no color quite like this."

Customized Gift Boxes

When A/Z Corporation approached us to create custom gift boxes for them, we knew it was an opportunity to build something great. As a company that markets itself as an innovative leader in their field, it was important to match that flair. To match the clean aesthetic of the organization, the set-up box style was chosen. Two piece set-up boxes are often used for high-end electronics, like smartphones and tablets, so there is an implied sense of luxury for the user.

To enhance the rigid box, we wrapped it in a black ultima. This cover material is rich and gives both depth and contrast when used. Particularly with finishing elements that set it off, like silver foil stamp crowning the package with A/Z Corporation's logo.  Watch the video to get a sense of the unboxing elements.  Minnesota-made packaging at its finest.

While we love this project, there are more things that could enhance it further. A thermoformed insert, or custom foam insert, could add additional protection. And while the rigid two piece setup box is fairly well protected, adding a sleeve to the box adds more real estate for marketing content without ruining the sleek, clean look.  But that's just us working toward perfection.

Custom Gift Box Styles

While the setup box style was perfect for this project, there are many, many other styles of custom boxes that you can peruse to find the perfect one for your product and organization. While you might not initially think of your product as a gift to customers, using a little bit of that aesthetic could bring a new dimension to your brand. Sunrise Packaging creates boxes that can be used as keepsakes.

The Future of Medical Device Packaging

New Research is Forecasting the State of Medical Device Packaging Through 2020

According to a press release from PR Newswire, the custom medical packaging industry is set to grow. In 2014, medical devices packaging accrued $21.64 Billion. By 2020, analysts are projecting it will rise to an industry total of $30.5 Billion.

Key=Surgical-medical-sales-KitWhile markets typically grow, this particular report spells relief for presentation packaging companies. Why? Because the medical industry was set to cut back on its packaging budget in order to favor R&D funding. While this is also important, one can’t really sacrifice quality when it comes to medical packaging and custom medical kits. With so many precise components and specific instructions, custom medical kits need to be as organized and clear as possible.

More than just an aesthetic, industry standards require medical devices packaging to to meet certain compliances. Tamper-proof or child-resistant. Coupling a high-end presentation kit with custom thermoformed trays and compartments, for example, is one way to fulfill these requirements. And the room for innovation keeps growing, perhaps adding to the growth factor.

Compliance packaging is vital to the medical industry. It doesn’t just apply to custom medical sales kits, but to medication as well. Pharmacy Times draws attention to a study that suggests a large portion of patients are not taking their medication as prescribed, which will most likely cause an increased desire for clarity for compliance packaging.

You may wonder what compliance packaging for medications has to do with medical packaging and custom medical kits, but those worlds may be colliding faster than you think. An anti-overdose drug will be stepping up production to combat the rise in drug overdoses, and may soon be carried by first responders in various forms for administering. Specialized delivery will require new devices, and thus specialized packaging. New devices and custom medical kits will give the respective industries a rise; a fortunate side effect of an unfortunate problem.

Growth might be good for the industry as a whole–the medical device packaging industry–but sometimes it is at the behest of a sad statistic. Undeniable, however, is the need for high-end presentation boxes, medical sales kits, and proper medical device packaging that will meet these high standards, be functional, and present the products clearly and accurately.

As always, Sunrise Packaging is committed to delivering custom medical sales kits and launch kit boxes that fit the needs of any product or project.

Premium TV Series Box

Television series sets and music collections are often accompanied by specialty packaging. Most likely produced in large runs, these box sets always have a unique, custom aspect. This example, from Packaging of the World, is for an HBO series called Roma. The black, two piece slip case and box have a sleek and upscale look that extends the series’ theme; Secrets of an Empire. The custom box adds value to the entire series package, and as an added touch- a textured red paper with printed graphics adorns an already esthetically-pleasing display.   custom slipcase boxcustom black box

Case Study: Custom Turned Edge Set Up Boxes

Custom Turned Edge Set Up Boxes

tru melange, a fellow Minnesota based company, signifies the harmony and beauty of nature in their handmade aromatherapy candles. Designing the packaging was important to tru melange as the packaging needed to be an extension of the candle and the company’s image as well.

Vishal Naithani of tru melange, “We wanted our packaging to be upscale. It needed to convey the image of our product and our company…We went with Sunrise because of their great service, price and ability to meet these needs.”

After thorough consideration the final box was a custom turned edge set up box. They were printed using a 4 color offset on 80 pound litho text with aqueous coating. This was then wrapped around 42 point chipboard. The 4 color printing ensured the vibrant and varying colors came out pristine. The chipboard resulted in a 2-piece turned edge box with a sturdy feel that paralleled the upscale image of the company. Custom packaging is just the edge this company needed on retail shelves.
