Tru Melange Candles
tru melange, a fellow Minnesota based company, signifies the harmony and beauty of nature in their handmade aromatherapy candles. In designing the packaging it was important that the casing was more than just functional. It needed to become an extension of the candle and the company's image as well.
Vishal Naithani of tru melange, "We wanted our packaging to be upscale. It needed to convey the image of our product and our company...We went with Sunrise because of their great service, price and ability to meet these needs."
After thorough consideration the final box was printed using a 4 color offset on 80 pound litho text with aqueous coating. This was then wrapped around 42 point chipboard. The 4 color printing ensured the vibrant and varying colors came out pristine. While the chipboard resulted in a 2-piece turned edge box with a sturdy feel that paralleled the upscale image of the company.
Seasoned account manager Nick Rude headed the tru melange project and had this to say about it, "It really excites me that this company decided to step away from stock items and get into custom packaging. A lot of work and project management went into this job, but when you see the end result it's worth it. Custom packaging is just the edge this company needed on retail shelves. I believe they are seeing the customization pay off in their sales."

When should I consider thermoforming as part of my product design?
Anytime your design requires the packaging to conform to a specific shape or part thermoforming is a good choice. Thermoforming converts materials, typically PVC, Styrene, PET, PETG, and PLA into a shape through heat and vacuum forming. Molds are relatively inexpensive and lead times are short. Sunrise has an extensive inventory of molds and dies increasing the likelihood that we already have the configuration you are looking for.
Thermoformed parts may be used in vinyl cases where we seal in the parts for a uniform look and feel. Thermoformed and die cut trays are frequently used in conjunctixon with set up boxes to enhance visual appeal and provide product protection. Thermoformed clear clamshells are often used for point of purchase displays and packaging.
Whatever your design, take into consideration Sunrise Packaging's thermoforming capabilities on your next project. Contact one of our account managers to guide you through the design phase or select from one of our existing molds.
