Soft touch lamination is a steadily growing trend in packaging solutions that offers a protectant to printed wraps and offers a professional feel. With soft touch lamination, you give your custom boxes, binders and rigid flats a smooth finish that exudes luxury packaging and high end products. Used most infamously with Apple product boxes such as iPods, iPhones, etc. we have seen a huge increase in clientele searching for soft touch lamination. All of the boxes shown below use a soft touch lamination. With turned edge being such a rigid material choice for packaging solutions, soft touch offers a contrast between what your eyes see and your hands eventually feel. Similar to a hard cover text book, turned edge packaging products can benefit from this lamination style to create an approachable, yet luxurious final product.
We came across this incredible packaging solution on the Packaging of the World online gallery and just had to share it with you! The product it houses is an innovative auto-injector pen that is designed to meet the needs of pharmaceutical industries. The design of the packaging was commissioned to CRE8 DESIGN, their goal to create something that helps demonstrate the product. The final product is a unique, turned edge packaging solutions that uses warm colors and subtle design to create a less intimidating product. Instead of a generic box, this custom box is an interactive opening experience that conveys the message of the product company; simple, safe, and approachable. Not only does this rigid box hold the pen, but also a testing pad, booklet, and CD, making it more than just a box, but a custom medical product kit.
Subscription boxes have been a huge hit in e-commerce and kit retail sales. Shown here are a variety of different subscription boxes ranging from pet care, men’s cooking supplies, and of course, women’s cosmetics. The great part about the business plan behind subscription boxes is that it brings awareness of new products to consumers and guarantees a monthly sale. If recipients are not too thrilled about one month’s package, they only need to wait a few weeks for the next one!
So guess what we’re going to talk about next…. the packaging! Big surprise, we know. Each of these monthly subscription boxes has a unique design that represents the theme of the kit as well as enticing an opening experience that consumers get to experience every month. From two piece setup boxes to hinged corrugated and turned edge cigar boxes, the packaging solutions that can be used in this market are infinite. We think the Netbox™ would be a great fit for a subscription box!
Marketing kits and retail packaging solutions alike can all benefit from custom die-cut foam inserts. Shown in this photo gallery are a wide range of different boxes that all use foam for a variety of custom packaging applications. What we love about foam is how it can be versatile and dependable at the same time! Completely customizable, these foam inserts fit perfectly in their designated boxes, and hold one to multiple components. Our branded products such as the NetBox™ cigar style magnet box, and our Flashpad™ USB packaging solution are great standardized items that are complemented well by die-cut foam. The best part about die-cut foam is that it is an economical way to add internal organization to any custom box or even rigid flat. Serving as a tray to house a wide variety of items, custom foam in any color and consistency can make a huge difference in the way your present your brand and product line.
With all the buzz surrounding the latest and greatest Apple products, we thought we would chime in and at least rave about the designer box it comes in. The goal of the packaging design was to create a complete user experience from the moment the product was purchased. Of course, the name itself carries its own marketing weight, however, that means that the packaging and product needs to live up to the already prestigious name. Because of this requirement, the custom rigid box was designed as concept from the perspective of the user. The clear overlay combined with the turned edge component offers a way to market the brand in a simplistic way. Offering display, representation, and of course tampering security, this high end packaging solution for Apple has internal components that show extremely close attention to detail. Inside the two piece box are small thermoformed elements that keep cords in place, and the smartwatch upright for display.
The product here from Nastek is the Yon bike light. While you don’t often seen small accessories like this in high end rigid setup boxes, this packaging solution is intricate, eye-catching, and unique! As you can see from the few pictures shown, this two piece box that we came across on Packaging of the World is a fresh approach to accessory and electronics packaging. Of the two piece setp box, the bottom tray offers both external packaging as well as an internal ‘shoulder’ that raises the product for extremely nice display. What caught our attention is the use of a clear window on the top piece of the box. The clarity of the material allows consumers to see the physical product before they purchase it. Along with the display window feature, this turned edge box is carefully and strategically designed with Nastek branding with words, images, and the company logo. What is great about this organization’s branding strategy is that it uses simplicity to its advantage by being able to apply all logotypes to their wide variety of applications. The rigid box used for their Yon bike lamps added value to the product by differentiating it from its customer. With such a unique style and construction, this two piece setup box incites curiosity and therefore widens the purchasing audience.
