Influencer Kits & Advocacy Marketing

Influencer marketing, or influence marketing, is a form of marketing that focuses on specific key individuals (or types of individual) rather than the target market as a whole. Think of it as a response to the changing social atmosphere and outlets available to people. Anyone with Wifi and well-utilized device (it doesn't even have to be a computer in this mobile age) can reach millions via Snapchat, YouTube, Instagram, whatever channel they prefer. Savvy businesses are trying to engage with these people in different ways to promote their products. This usually takes the form of influencer kits.

Influencer kits are a new take on a sales kit. Rather than specifically *sell* directly to a consumer, these kits are designed to appeal to a very specific market segment. They should include content that speaks to influencers and, by proxy, their audience.  Construction of the kit should also embody the brand. Typically, a cigar style box is used since it creates a kind of stage for the products.

Create a Strategy to Maximize Influencer Kits

Research Your Influencers
You can't send out influencer kits without knowing who your influencers are, can you? Brandwatch has a few suggestions for tools you can use to find influencers. At the bare minimum, they need to be involved in your field or have a relationship with your brand.

You subtly enter their sphere by engaging with their content. Comment in a positive way on blog posts and like Instagram pics. Even as a brand, you don't want to come across as robotic or disconnected. That's pretty much the opposite of how to build relationships.

On that note, take the time to consider their likes, dislikes, and personality features. Do they exemplify your brand, and the message you want to get across? Use this information not only to create your influencer list, but to start putting together an influencer kit that speaks to them. Start with a blank slate, a custom cigar style box. The trays inside can be customized to whatever products you choose to share. The flip-up top (which can be magnetized for extra oomph) is the perfect spot for instructions, tips, ideas, hashtags, any extra information.

TL;DR

  1. Research to find influencers within your market segment

  2. Contact potential influencers to gauge their interest, any fees, etc.

  3. Send influencer kits to your carefully-selected list

  4. Continue to cultivate the relationship and monitor ROI

Contact Your Influencers
Connect with them where they are for the first contact. As users and email filtering have become more sophisticated, it's less and less likely that they'll respond to an email sent out of the blue. It's like cold-calling: no one likes it, and it's more annoying than anything. If they're primarily active on Instagram, send a DM; LinkedIn, send InMail, and so on. If they're interested, they'll let you know.

This is also a good time to figure out how much you're going to spend on influencers. Some can demand a pretty penny for a post featuring your product--see the Kardashians' promo posts, which are rumored to cost somewhere into six figures--and others might do it for the products alone. Take it all into consideration when putting together the product part of the kit. Be honest with your intentions, too.

Cigar box presentation kits can be customized with a few different kinds of inserts, so products are guaranteed not to shift or break in transit. Precise, diecut foam inserts are elegant and recommended for more fragile products. Thermoformed trays provide a frictionless fit and ideal accompaniment for electronics and inserts.

Send Out Influencer Kits
By this point, you know what makes your influencers tick and built a positive relationship with them.  Now's the time to deliver--literally--and the impress the pants off of them. Your products should speak for themselves, but you can delight them from the second they receive the influencer kits with some added luxury customization. Cigar boxes can withstand a lot of our custom options, including embossing, foil stamping, silkscreen printing, and more. Check out Sunrise's gallery for more ideas

Post-Influencer Kit Relationship

Like any relationship, no one wants to feel used and abused. Continue to cultivate the relationship and show that you value them as consumers, and by extension, their followers as well. It boils down to creating mutual respect. Even if you don't plan on sending out more influencer kits (to the same people, at least), find other creative ways to engage with them.

And, of course, the important part of any marketing initiative...calculating return on investment.  Compared with pre-influencer kits numbers, how have things changed? Is brand awareness up? Are you connecting with a broader audience? Are sales up? Compile the metrics you use to measure success, and plan from there. Medical Packaging For Boomers

Nearly 27% of the population of the United States was born between 1946 and 1964. Termed the Baby Boomers, this generation has stampeded its way through the decades and are now arriving at retirement age. While aging typically indicates health decline, this generation is bucking that trend (or segments of them are). They're eating better, exercising more, taking preventative measures designed to help them not only live longer, but have a higher quality of life as well. Their expectations are higher than previous generations; baby boomers also tend to have more money and are generally wealthier. They want the best--and they can probably pay for it--in their products, and that includes medical packaging.

How Baby Boomers Affect Medical Packaging

The enormous influence of the baby boomer generation reflects its size and spending power. Their needs regarding medical packaging are unique to the industry; they love new and innovative styles, but still need to have ease of opening. Think of a bottle of aspirin. It's a common joke, but sometimes the childproof lock defeats adult logic. Add in arthritic hands and possibly declining mental state, and pill-sized pain relief becomes an insurmountable task.

For the product above, Sunpack created a box with light magnetic closure. This ensures that it won't open accidentally but is easy enough to slip open when needed.

The design of the medical packaging is important as well when it comes to the user's ability to remove it from the package. In the aspirin example from above, it's easy to shake out too many and lose some of the medication. It's not a huge factor with something relatively low-cost, like aspirin, but becomes exponentially more important with the medicine itself. Being able to package an actual device, such as the Axionics device in the picture, securely is step one. Step two is creating a tray which can not only securely hold the device, but allows for semi-easy removal. The thumb holes around each part of the device help ensure a firm grasp prior to lifting.

Vision is another consideration for medical packaging designed for baby boomers. Naturally, as we age, our vision tends to decrease. Medical packaging needs to be clear and concise in design as well as content.  Devices need to be easily identifiable, but that doesn't mean devoid of creativity. For Axionics, you can see the design is deceptively simple, elegant, and with simple fonts to aid comprehension. While white is the dominant color within the design, choosing a bright, single accent color reduces visual clutter.

Keep It Simple

When it comes to baby boomers and medical packaging, HealthcarePackaging.com said it best:

This consumer segment is looking for brands that will help them take care of themselves and better their lives, without constantly reminding them that they aren’t actually as young as they think they are.

Packaging is great way to connect with an audience. It not only entices people to try it, but if it offers a pleasurable experience, it guarantees referrals and repeat business. Sunpack can help design products that meet this need for your products.

Product Launch Kits and Why You Need One

Product launch kits are like battering rams for new business owners. These customized kits don’t just put a foot in the door–they kick it in and take a stand! For a variety of reasons, launch kits can put your product at the top of the charts when it comes to retail.

What are Product Launch Kits Exactly?

Fair question. For packing such a powerful punch, one might think a product launch kit is some sort of secret weapon. A specific tool, like a wrench. In actuality, a launch kit’s real power relies on its ability to be customized. Adaptable. A launch kit can be tailor fit to any consumer or company.

Physically, product launch kits are customized corrugated boxes, typically with an E-Flute wall structure for emphasizing graphics and logos. An appealing, attractive box that can store and support a new product, as well as any informational materials that come along with it. Keeping those elements in mind, the options for a final launch Kit are nearly limitless.

Where to Start

When trying to decide on the right product launch kit, it’s important to consider where your product is at in the marketing/retail process. Is your product fresh and new, barely out of the prototype stages? Is your product an established tool or concept that has seen plenty of shelf time? Is your product practical, or is it for pleasure? Or entertainment? Is your product trying to reach a typical shopper? Or is it specialized to a particular industry, like medical equipment?

For products fresh out of the gate, product launch kits are invaluable. There’s no substitute for getting your product into the right hands. Tactile contact is still one of the biggest advertising tenets. When you get your hands on a wrench, you know what it does, right? This isn’t always true with a brand new invention or product, which is where a launch kit comes in. It can answer questions, show diagrams, all while keeping your product in a potential buyer’s hands. Product launch kits can even be made to look like actual retail packaging to give a store a peek at what your product might look like on their shelves.

But maybe your product has been around the block. Maybe your product isn’t even a product. Perhaps it’s a new idea for a non-profit organization, or a new promotion from a timeless sports team. In which case, your product launch kit might be more of a relaunch kit. This is also an effective tool, breathing a second wind into a classic model. Maybe your custom launch kit could be more subtle in its design, opting for a glossy laminate with a stark logo instead of informative blurbs and splashes of color.

Customization is King

No matter which stage in the spectrum your product–or property–is at, the best part of a product launch kit is its ability to be loaded with SWAG. When fit with a die-cut foam insert, or thermoformed tray, a launch kit can store not only the actual product, but related materials, flash drives, and any other relevant promotional materials. If you’re a gym, maybe you want to include a water bottle with your logo, or a personalized sweatband. With a custom foam insert, a launch kit can house just about any giveaway goodie. These promotional items will add value and also increase notoriety.

Bottom Line? In today’s market, it will be difficult to make a splash without some sort of custom product launch kit. The days of pamphlets and firm handshakes are over. With so many products and innovations, don’t you think your business card should be a little more three-dimensional?
