Xbox Kinect Game Packaging Revealed

The gaming world is buzzing about the Xbox Kinect- a hands-free motion control system that allows gamers to rid of their remote controls altogether. Picture taking the Nintendo Wii one step further. Watch a demonstration video here.

So how does it work? Kinect consists of two cameras that capture the movements of the player. Much like human eyes, the twin cameras allow for depth perception, so Kinect can pick up on a wide range of motion without the aid of a video-game controller. This lets gamers shake their bodies and watch their character do the same.

The packaging for the new Xbox Kinect games has recently been unveiled. The games will come in traditional games cases much like a DVD case. However, the Kinect game cases will be purple.  Each box art displays the new “wave” design and  a “Requires Kinect Device” label.

Look for the Xbox Kinect to arrive on store shelves for the 2010 holiday season. There is much debate on whether this is going to be a success or a short-lived novelty. What do you think?
