pantene 300x287 Pantene Pro V: Fused With Nature

Pantene Pro-V, a Proctor and Gamble product, is getting fused with natural components. Its new shampoo and conditioner bottles are being produced primarily from plant-based plastic to form packaging that is more eco-friendly. This new material is made from sugarcane and will launch in Europe. It will expand to the rest of the world over the next 2 years. Sugarcane is becoming a very popular material for packaging because it is a natural and renewable resource. 70% less fossil fuels are being used and it releases significantly less green house gases than traditional petroleum based plastics.

Sugarcane is better for the planet and it doesn’t alter the feel and look of the original packaging. The new eco-friendly bottle has the same physical characteristics of the old bottle. This is the first hair care brand to use sugarcane for their packaging. This innovation for Pantene Pro-V is just one of the many steps Proctor and Gamble is taking to achieve their goals of becoming a more sustainable company and providing environmentally friendly products.

heinz ketchup dip 300x219 Finally, A Ketchup Packet Alternative

Heinz is at it again. They have found another way to revamp their ketchup packaging, this time on a smaller scale. We all have been in the situation involving those frustrating and hard to open ketchup packets. Well Heinz has developed a solution to that problem by introducing their Dip & Squeeze packaging. Not only can you peel back the label and dip food into the ketchup, it can also be squeezed out easily by tearing off the top. Also there is no need to grab handfuls of packets because one Heinz Dip & Squeeze holds three times as much ketchup as the traditional packet.

The new packaging allows for consumers to enjoy the convenience as well as ease of use. Heinz released their Dip & Squeeze ketchup in 2010 and since then they have traveled 5500 miles on a road trip to provide consumers with a chance to try the new ketchup packaging and listen to their feedback. Heinz has received an overwhelming amount of positive feedback, which has helped bring the Dip & Squeeze ketchup packaging to consumers nationwide.

BDXL, The New Blu-ray Disc Format

Friday, July 9th, 2010

bdxl format 300x300 BDXL, The New Blu ray Disc Format

The Blu-ray Disc Association is shifting its focus on data backup and recording of high-definition broadcast content while stepping away from movie distribution. The recent release of the latest Blu-ray disc format called BDXL offers storage capacity of up to 128GB.

The new format uses more storage layers doubling the storage capacity of existing Blu-ray discs which offer 50GB of storage. The 128GB BDXL discs are write-once while a re-writable format will also be available allowing for 100GB of storage capacity.

BDXL recorders will be used as set-top boxes to record broadcast TV and archive sensitive data, video, and images. While millions of Blu-ray players have been sold on the market, the new format is not compatible with the existing devices. It will require the purchase of new hardware. Such was the case with the evolution of DVD format in the early 2000s.

The existing storage capacity of 50GB Blu-ray discs is large enough to fit most high-definition movies and 3D movies based on the Blu-ray 3D format. The BDXL format addresses the need for high capacity discs to back up data in case of hard drive failure.

Further down the line, you can expect the development of BDXL drives for laptops and computers. No time frame on the release of BDXL hardware has been identified.
