Packaging can take many forms and can be made out of many different materials. One popular choice is the use of poly. Poly is a flexible material, making it durable against everyday use. Poly packaging is very versatile. Its light weight allows for easy shipping and its many options for design makes poly packaging a must for promotional endeavors. Poly enables packaging to have a crisp and clean look, giving it an excellent presentation factor.
There are two types of poly packaging: polyethylene and polypropylene. Polyethylene is the most popular plastic in the world. It is classified as a thermoplastic, which means it can be melted to a liquid and remolded when it turns solid. Polyethylene is interesting in that it was accidentally discovered. A German chemist in 1898 was applying heat to another compound, when he realized the extreme heat and pressure produced polyethylene. Polypropylene has a little different structure in that it serves as both a plastic and a fiber. It has a higher melting point than many other plastics, making it a common material in dishwasher safe food containers.
Poly packaging is an outstanding choice for customization. Offset and screen printing are popular options for poly projects. Specialty printing like foil stamping, embossing, and debossing are other options to add creativity, uniqueness, and character to any packaging project. Poly packaging can take many forms including boxes, binders, totes, envelopes, and folders. The versatility and durability that poly packaging offers gives companies that ability to stand out from the competition.

Custom Marketing Kits
Marketing kits provide a great opportunity to represent and differentiate your company or brand. Take a look at this kit for example. The customer was able to promote their company with an extraordinary marketing kit that demanded attention.
The kit is wrapped with an artificial suede-like material that wraps around the outside and inside of the piece giving it rich texture and a high class look. A gate fold opening brings you inside of the kit where you’ll see literature space in the center as well as the turned edge pockets on the inside panels. A riveted magnet closure with sharp foil stamping bring this kit together making it extremely compelling.
As you can imagine, this customer was amazed at the end result and was looking forward to the tremendous reaction they were anticipating from their customers and prospects. Custom Marketing Kits are the way to go to set yourself apart from your competitors.

Pantene Pro-V, a Proctor and Gamble product, is getting fused with natural components. Its new shampoo and conditioner bottles are being produced primarily from plant-based plastic to form packaging that is more eco-friendly. This new material is made from sugarcane and will launch in Europe. It will expand to the rest of the world over the next 2 years. Sugarcane is becoming a very popular material for packaging because it is a natural and renewable resource. 70% less fossil fuels are being used and it releases significantly less green house gases than traditional petroleum based plastics.
Sugarcane is better for the planet and it doesn’t alter the feel and look of the original packaging. The new eco-friendly bottle has the same physical characteristics of the old bottle. This is the first hair care brand to use sugarcane for their packaging. This innovation for Pantene Pro-V is just one of the many steps Proctor and Gamble is taking to achieve their goals of becoming a more sustainable company and providing environmentally friendly products.

Traditional marketing has been centered around companies taking action to initiate a conversation, meaning companies are focused on finding customers. This is done by sending out a message to an audience through TV commercials, print ads, and cold calling. This form of marketing is called outbound marketing and it is starting to lose its effectiveness. We now have technologies like spam filtering, caller id, Tivo, and other measures to block out these outbound marketing techniques. It is also costly to create outbound marketing messages and difficult to track how successful or unsuccessful the campaign was.
We live in a world where things change everyday. Even the way we market has changed immensely. We have turned away from our traditional forms of marketing and have adapted something different called inbound marketing. This new form of marketing is centered around being found by customers. Companies that participate in inbound marketing take the stress of hoping the money they spent on expensive ads will somehow attract some new customers. Companies using inbound marketing utilize techniques such as writing a blog, creating a YouTube video, and constructing a presence via social media to draw customers in.
Inbound marketing is an efficient way to attract customers. It is less costly than outbound marketing, especially since many social media outlets are free to use. It also allows for more accurate targeting. Instead of sending a message to a large amount of people, inbound marketing allows messages to be formed specifically to certain people that you want to hear the message. The secret to a valuable inbound marketing campaign is through content and communication. If a company focuses on useful and confident content, people will find it and like it. Communication is also key to creating a conversation with potential customers because it could turn into a beneficial business relationship.

Target announced April of 2010 that they were going to roll out a nationwide recycling program in the front of each of its 1,740 U.S. stores. The program was divided into 4 stations: aluminum, plastic and aluminum, one for regular trash, plastic bags had its own, and the last one was for MP3 players, cell phones and ink cartridges. The goal of this program was to reduce unnecessary waste from their stores and communities. Target also has the goal of becoming a more sustainable company overall by creating efforts to reduce their environmental footprint.
So how has this program performed a year later? More than 170 million shopping bags, 700 tons of bottles and cans, and almost 2 million small electronics were recycled. Target has made great progress in developing a plan that has produced this much success in only one year. Target has made an impressive commitment to becoming a more sustainable and eco-friendly company.
